selkie: a home-made play

In a seaside village, a young fisherman falls in love with a selkie, a seal-woman, and hides her sealskin, trapping her in her human form. At first welcomed by the townspeople, the selkie becomes homesick and is unable to adjust to life in the village. Her relationship with the fisherman deteriorates, and at last she finds her stolen skin and returns to the sea.

Performed February 14, 2009 in West Philly. The fishing village and seaside were built into the rooms of a two-bedroom apartment, and the story was performed in a loop, so that each audience group got to see it twice through.
