On January 24th, we were honored to have a great turnout for our RITES OF PASSAGE party, in which we initiated partygoers into a fantastic cult. Amid exotic home-made culinary delights as well as food generously donated by Pizza Brain, guests were:
Welcomed at the door by the mysterious Super E, played by the stunning Jess Hurley
Anointed by Mizz Terry Flava, played by Anita Holland
Fed by the medieval scholar Wolfjane (Rebecca Wright)
Intoxicated by the chemist BravoTango (Maria Shaplin) and the mystic shaman 3 Wolf Moon (Kristen Bailey)
Gamed by the preternaturally cool Breeze (Thomas Choinacky)
Séanced by Alpha Female Darnica (Mary Tuomanen) and Beta Female Asena Khan (Izzy Sazak)
Riddled by the the sphinx-like Wulfmon Scott Nards (Adriano Shaplin)
Beguiled by the addled genius Matilder (Maura Krause), the comp-sci wunderkint Linux (Michael Osinski)
and Dance-battled with Charry Barry Ruchi (the hard-core Bayla Rubin)
By going through these rites — tasting exotic foods and potions, dancing, and generally navigating a garden of earthly delights — guests received talismans and competed for the coveted Crown of Lupercalia, an impressive headdress built by our designer Maria Shaplin.
At the end of the night, those guests that had gone through the most rites and collected the most talismans got their new initiate names in a loving final ceremony. We were so pleased, at the stroke of midnight, to see the Crown of Lupercalia go to partygoer Julia Frey, (who in her initiation ceremony was dubbed Cubsnatch.) She accepted her role as Queen of Lupercalia with grace and majesty. Congratulations to you, Cubsnatch! And thank you to all our honored guests and initiates!
A favorite moment of the night was in the last séance, when Jake Blouch screamed and fell off his beanbag chair backwards in reaction to blood spontaneously pouring out of Alpha Female Darnica’s head. Theater magic.
